Epsom salt is already well known for its beneficial properties.
Many use it as a foot soak, but there are loads of other great ways to use it.
Try some of these for yourself:
1. Hair care
f your hair gets greasy quick, you may want to try this trick: Add a handful of Epsom salt to your normal shampoo. Wash and condition your hair like normal and notice the drop in greasiness. Alternatively, you can try a more advanced salt treatment to enhance your hair volume. Mix Epsom salt with your conditioner, warm the mixture over the stove and then massage it from your roots to tips. Let it soak for 20 minutes before washing out. The treatment works to prevent split ends and should boost hair volume.
2. Face care
Mix Epsom salt together with a liquid soap or face-cleansing cream. Gently rub the mixture on your skin and rinse off with warm water. This should help maintain moisture levels in your skin and remove old dead skin cells.
3. Foot care
If you are on your feet all day, your feet can quickly started to feel and show the pain. Epsom salt mixed together with olive oil can be a great treatment to combat dryness. Rub the mixture into your feet once or twice a week and the dry, split skin should quickly improve. You can add an essential oil of your choice for a nice scent.
4. Alleviate bruises
Bruises can be pretty unattractive. Even if they’ve healed long ago, they are often still visible. Try mixing 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt with water and spread the mixture carefully on your skin.
If you are suffering from heat headaches in summer or after a long day in the office, try taking a bath with some Epsom salt. The salt in the water will help relax your muscles and release any tension, which often helps with headaches.
6. As a bathroom cleaner
Mix Epsom salt and liquid soap in a 1:1 ratio and use it to turn tile and surfaces squeaky clean.
7. Get rid of splinters
If you’ve gotten a pesky splinter, rub a little Epsom salt on the wound to soften the skin and bring the splinter closer to the surface. Say goodbye to those tweezers.
8. To fall asleep
It’s sometimes hard to fall asleep after a stressful day. Epsom salt may be the answer here too. Draw yourself a bath in the evening and add 3-4 tablespoons of Epsom salt. Enjoy the relaxing effects and feel your muscles release. This should work like a sleep elixir.
9. For the morning after
Did last night’s activities run a bit longer than planned? Does your head hurt this morning? Try this to kick that hangover: dissolve 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt in a glass of water. Drink the mixture to bring your water and mineral levels back into balance. Make sure to stay hydrated with water throughout the day and your hangover should fade away into the woodwork.
10. Clean your dishwasher
Add a little Epsom salt to your dishwasher. Run a normal cycle and spots should be a thing of the past.
Wow, I didn’t realize this salt could do so much. These are tips to remember.
